Clear Answers Before Treatment
Electrolysis Hair Removal FAQ
We believe informed clients feel more comfortable and confident about beginning electrolysis. These answers explain what the process involves, what results require, and how we help you prepare for treatment.
What is electrolysis hair removal?
Electrolysis is the only FDA-recognized method of permanent hair removal. We place a very fine probe into the natural opening of an individual hair follicle and apply a controlled amount of energy to disable the cells responsible for hair growth. The treated hair is then removed.
Is electrolysis permanent?
Yes. A successfully treated follicle cannot produce another hair. Because hair grows in cycles, we need multiple appointments to reach different follicles when they are ready for effective treatment.
How many electrolysis treatments will I need?
The number varies with the treatment area, density, growth cycles, previous removal methods, hormonal influences, and appointment consistency. We will provide realistic guidance, but we do not promise a fixed number of sessions.
Does electrolysis hurt?
Most clients describe a brief pinch, warmth, or tingling. Comfort varies by person and treatment area, and we check in with you throughout the appointment.
Is electrolysis safe for all skin types?
Electrolysis can be used across all skin tones because the treatment does not depend on skin or hair pigment. Professional technique, sanitation, appropriate settings, and aftercare remain important for every client.
Can electrolysis remove blonde, gray, red, or white hair?
Yes. Electrolysis treats the individual follicle and does not rely on pigment, so it can work on blonde, gray, red, white, light, and dark hair.
Is electrolysis better than laser hair removal?
The right method depends on your hair, skin, area, and goals. Electrolysis offers permanent hair removal without relying on pigment. Laser uses light that interacts with pigment and is cleared for permanent hair reduction. Read our full comparison.
Which areas can be treated with electrolysis?
We treat most facial and body areas, including the face, chin, upper lip, eyebrows, neck, ears, underarms, arms, chest, abdomen, bikini line, back, legs, fingers, and toes.
How long does an electrolysis appointment take?
We offer treatment appointments from 15 minutes to 2 hours. The best session length depends on the area and amount of visible hair. Compare session lengths and pricing.
What should I do before my appointment?
Avoid waxing, tweezing, or threading because the hair must be visible for electrolysis. Arrive with clean skin, stay well hydrated, and allow enough growth for Margaret to see and remove the treated hair.
What should I do after electrolysis?
Keep the area clean, avoid unnecessary touching, and limit excessive sun, heat, and heavy sweating for the period we recommend. Follow the personalized aftercare guidance provided during your visit.
Can men get electrolysis?
Absolutely. We welcome men seeking facial or body Hair Removal, including beard shaping, neck, ears, shoulders, chest, back, and other suitable areas.
Is electrolysis good for PMOS-related hair growth?
Electrolysis can permanently treat individual unwanted hairs associated with PMOS. Hormonal changes may activate follicles that were not previously producing visible hair, so new treatment needs may develop over time. We provide hair removal, not medical diagnosis or PMOS treatment.
Can teenagers have electrolysis?
Electrolysis may be considered based on age, hair growth, comfort, and individual circumstances. A parent or guardian must be involved when consent is legally or professionally required. Please call or text us before booking.
How soon will I see results?
You will notice fewer hairs returning as successfully treated follicles stop producing hair. Permanent progress develops across multiple growth cycles, so consistency matters more than a single appointment.
Is electrolysis sanitary?
Yes. We use sterile, single-use electrolysis probes and follow professional sanitation and infection-prevention procedures for every appointment.
Why choose electrolysis instead of waxing or shaving?
Shaving, waxing, tweezing, and threading remove hair temporarily and require ongoing maintenance. Electrolysis treats the growth cells inside the follicle to provide permanent hair removal.
Can I wear makeup after facial electrolysis?
It is best to wait until visible redness or sensitivity has settled before applying makeup. Follow the aftercare recommendation we provide for your skin and treatment area.
How much does electrolysis cost?
Our appointments range from $40 for 15 minutes to $180 for 2 hours. We also offer a free 15-minute consultation. View all current prices.
Do I need a consultation before starting electrolysis?
A consultation is not required for every client, but it is a helpful starting point if you are new to electrolysis, have questions, or are unsure which session length to choose. Our consultation is complimentary.
